Praha Prague

21st September 2010, Prague Hostel Kitchen.

Yesterday evening we arrived in Prague. It's a good 15°C colder here but I love it. When on the tram I could smell Germany too which reminded me of my early months there. One of the first things I noticed here though is how the people dress. It's so amazing and they can all get away with it whereas in Aus you'd be considered a bit of a wierdo.

Today we're about to go for another New Europe free walking tour which I'm really excited for, I love the atmosphere here. Just had a hot chocolate and nutella on toast so I'm good to go!

........

Well everything is as good as I'd imagined. The architecture here is amazing and the poor city has been though so much as we found out on the tour. We saw Old Town Square and went up the clock tour a bit later on in the day.

The astronomical clock
Charles Bridge was also included as well as the Jewish Quarter. Chillingly, the Jewish Quarter is one of the most well preserved one's you'll ever see. Why? Because Hitler wanted it to be a museum for an extinct race... Tomorrow we're going to go on a tour in the castle area and the Lesser Town. Hopefully it'll be a warm clear day like today was. We're riding on a heat wave at the moment, it's great.

Wednesday 22nd September 2010.

Today was our last day in Prague and our last day of travelling before flying out tomorrow. We took it slow this morning by walking around the little Autumn markets sampling some food and buying gifts.
Then I led a lady astray to where I thought the Marriott Hotel was but when we walked past where I told her to go it wasn't there. Must have disappeared, as hotels do. It was so nice to do this walking in the cold air but later on it warmed up again and we began our tour. This one wasn't free it cost 300 Czech Krone's but it's definitely worth doing and it's by the New Europe tours again.
It's so beautiful in this area (the Lesser Town) and I'm so glad we did the tour even though you're not actually allowed in the castle itself as it's now where the president lives and used for further government needs.
This is the cathedral within the castle walls which took over 100 years to build.
On the tour we couldn't believe that we ended up at the tram stop where we had become lost before when we first arrived in Prague. It's hard to believe how close we were to everything.
After the tour we retraced our steps though the garden to a Czech Pub for dinner which included dumpling of course. The best part though was walking back to the hostel where we saw the almost full moon between the spires and towers on Charles Bridge.
Tonight we've just been sorting things out and are now what seems to be the test subjects of the Art Hole Hostel to see whether a certain Taxi service works for our 5:15am departure. Let's see how it goes...
